Cosplay Photoshoot Guide

your Ultimate

Hi there, cosplay superstar! I’m so excited to work with you and bring your character to life. To make the most of your photoshoot, I’ve put together this guide with tips on preparing your wig, costume, and poses. Let’s get started!

Prepping Your Costume and Wig

Your costume and wig are the stars of the show—here’s how to make them camera-ready:

  • Costumes:

    • Iron or steam your costume the day before to remove wrinkles. Trust me, this makes a big difference!

    • Bring a fix-it kit (think small sewing kit, fabric tape, or safety pins) for quick fixes.

  • Wigs:

    • Style your wig ahead of time and secure it using bobby pins or wig tape.

    • Pack a small comb or brush to fix flyaways on-site.

  • Accessories & Props:

    • Double-check that all props (weapons, accessories, etc.) are in good condition.

    • For delicate props, pack bubble wrap or a protective case.

Day-of Preparation

Here’s how to get ready for the big day:

  • Timing:

    • Arrive at least 10 minutes early to settle in and get into character.

    • Running late? Let me know ASAP so we can adjust if needed.

  • Location:

    • Have a specific location in mind? Let me know!

    • Note: Conventions can be busy! We might adjust our location slightly for the best lighting and space but no matter where we end up, I will make sure we create some fun, creative photos together.

Posing

  • Get Inspired:

    • Gather inspiration photos of poses that match your character. Pinterest, Instagram, or even reference shots from the anime/game/movie can spark great ideas! Please share with me as well so we can both work towards this vision.

  • Get Into Character:

    • Think about your character’s personality and movements. Are they fierce? Playful? Stoic? Let that shine through in your poses!

  • Dynamic Poses:

    • Action stances, dramatic gestures, or holding a prop can add flair.

    • If your costume has flowy elements (like a cape or long skirt), we’ll play with movement for dramatic shots.

  • I’ve Got Your Back:

    • As a cosplayer myself, I know how tricky posing can be. I’ll guide you through flattering angles and suggest poses that bring out the best in your character!

Bonus tips

  • Pack Essentials:

    • Bring a portable mirror, makeup remover, and extra wig pins or adhesives.

    • Have a small towel or blotting paper handy to stay fresh.

  • Bring comfortable shoes:

    • I get it. You got some really cool, gravity defying shoes for your cosplay and will 100% look GREAT in photos with them on, but let’s not actually harm our feet. There’s Artist Alleys to walk through after all! Bring a pair of walking shoes to quickly walk from location to location and then pop them on for the shoot. Your feet will thank you.

  • Have Fun!

    • Embrace the character and enjoy the experience—it’s your time to shine!

I can’t wait to see your incredible cosplay and create something unforgettable together!
